Commerce City Police investigate shooting inside McDonalds restaurant

Police said a teenager was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Commerce City Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred inside a McDonald’s on Thursday afternoon.

The shooting occurred at the restaurant located at 60th Avenue and East Parkway Drive, police said in a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 1:04 p.m.

According to police, a 16-year-old teenager was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. On Friday, police said the victim is expected to survive.

Police said a person of interest had been identified and that officers were working to make contact with them.

The restaurant was closed after the shooting, police said. It has since reopened.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
